- Definition and classes of ceramics
- Advanced sintering Processes
- Thermodynamic aspects of sintering, diffusion, analytical models and stages of sintering
- Grain growth, microstructure evolution
- Functional ceramics (dielectric, piezoelectric, superconductors, varistors, magnetic materials, etc.) and structural ceramics (transparent oxide materials, carbides, nitride etc.)
Syllabus
- Classes and basic properties of ceramics
- Sintering: thermodynamics, diffusion theory
- Analytical models, microstructure evolution (grain growth)
- Advanced sintering processes and properties of some functional and structural ceramics (oxides, carbides, nitrides etc.)
