Co-ordinator : Marc Labalme
Prerequisite
Knowledge in Electromagnetism, Physics, Materials
Course Objectives
Address the main methods of non-destructive testing: ultrasound, eddy currents, optical methods, magnetic particle testing, radiographic testing (X, gamma), liquid penetrant testing ...
Knowledge of the application fields of each method and its limits
Syllabus
-Introduction: use of non destructive testing in manufacturing processes and maintenance; study of the different defects related to the development, manufacture or use of mechanical parts
- Comparative synthesis of the main methods used in the industry: Ultrasound, Eddy Current, Magnetic particle, Liquid penetrant, Radiography, Optical Methods (Infrared Thermography, Bragg Networks). Advantages and limitations of these different control methods
-Ultrasound: Principle of control. Ultrasound production and detection, coupling, propagation, echo formation.
- Eddy currents: Principle of control, currents distribution, theoretical diagrams of standardized impedance. Depth measurement of a deposit.
-Optical methods: infrared, Bragg gratings ...
