Understand the mechanisms of luminescence in materials and their applications in lighting, display, lasers, photovoltaics and luminescence applications in general.
Syllabus
Luminescence in dielectrics and semiconductors, massive materials, thin films and nanostructures, doped earth-rare or transition ions of the iron Group

I. Different sources of light

II. Main excitation/emission mechanisms in luminescent materials and their main applications

III. Electronic energy levels, coupling with host network vibrations and associated absorption/excitation mechanisms

IV. Relaxation of excited states

Practical work (TD or TP)
-Fluorescent Tubes, multicolor LED for lighting and display
