Prerequisite
Elementary Mathematics: Elementary functions : trigonometric, exponential, logarithm, power. Polynomials. Complex numbers. Derivation and study of the variations of one-variable functions.
Course Objectives
The aim of the refresher course is to consolidate the mathematical skills that correspond to the concepts and methods learned during the first two years of advanced training in physics and chemistry. They are necessary to follow the first semester course of mathematics.
Syllabus
I. The different coordinate systems. II. Differential calculus (partial derivatives, Taylor expansions). III. Integral calculus (integration by parts, change of variables). IV. Matrix algebra and linear operator (solutions of linear systems, diagonalization). V. First and second-order linear differential equations.

Acquired skills
The reviewed mathematical methods already allow to solve many problems in the physico-chemical field. They are, moreover, the foundation on which are built the more advanced methods taught in the first semester course of mathematics.
