Course Objectives | |
The teaching deals with the main mechanical properties of materials (metals, polymers, ceramics and composites), giving the basis of the mechanics of continuous media and metallurgical elements to understand the hardening mechanisms of metallic alloys | |
Syllabus | |
- The main classes of materials. Liaisons - Stress tensor, strain tensor. - Mechanical tests: traction, compression, bending, creep, relaxation, fatigue. - Elasticity of isotropic materials: constants of elasticity, generalized Hooke's law. - Unidimensional plasticity. - Microstructural plasticity, Schmid's law, notion of dislocations. - Elementary mechanisms of hardening. - Thermal treatments and mechanical properties. - Polymers, ceramics and composites. |
